My domain name needs to be renewed. The comp that built my site is closed, and its in their name. Am I SOL?

I had a local company build me a website, that is now out of business. They did, and when they hosted it, they put it under their name. Now my site is down because it’s 1 year is up and it needs to be renewed. Problem is the site is under the company’s owner name and he is no where to be found.
